Tennis Elbow Treatment

What is Tennis Elbow?

Tennis elbow is also called lateral epicondylitis. The lateral epicondyle is the bone part on the side of your elbow. The suffix “-itis” refers to inflammation or irritation. The anatomical term for tennis elbow translates to inflammation or irritation of the tissues surrounding the lateral epicondyle. This can be caused for repetitive wrist and arm motions such as the motions used when playing tennis. Those who experience tennis elbow will generally feel pain on the outside of the elbow and this pain could radiate down the forearm to the wrist.

What is the Acupen?

The acupen is a small pen that transmits pulses of electrical activity to the acupuncture needles to introduce electrical stimulation to the tissues being worked on. We are using acupen as a treatment for tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis). Primarily targeting the elbow and wrist extensors It increases blood flow to promote healing and helps to activate muscles, and reduce pain.

Benefits of acupuncture

Acupuncture creates microlesions in the muscles that are affected from a condition or injury. By creating microlesions, this signals to the brain to direct more healing efforts to that area. This stimulates the body’s natural healing abilities such as more blood flow to bring healing properties and promote physical well-being.

Electrical stimulation benefits

Electrical stimulation of acupuncture needles enhances the traditional acupuncture treatment. It sends mild electrical pulses through contact with the needles to help stimulate blood flow to bring even more healing properties to the tissues that require treatment.
