Multi-Disciplinary Health Care

Benefits of Multi-Disciplinary Health Care

By having a multi-disciplinary health care team of practitioners and modalities at your disposal, your are optimizing your chances at recovering from an injury or improving/maintaining an existing condition.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a form of health care for the whole body focussing on the neuromusculoskeletal system. Your spine holds and carries all of the message that travel from your brain to every part of your body and back. It is responsible for innervating everything from the muscles that allow you to brush your teeth to the systems that regulate digestion and hormones. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, examine and treat your spine and bone structure to ensure that your pathways are clear and healthy.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy focusses on PREVENTION and ALLEVIATION of dysfunctions in the way your body moves. Physiotherapists use multiple modalities such as ultrasound, laser therapy, spinal traction, electrical stimulation and acupuncture to enhance the healing process. They often use manual muscle manipulations to help improve mobilization and range of motion for muscles and joints. It is our goal to relieve pain and symptoms of your acute and chronic conditions while educating you on the best approach to prevent future injuries.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy focuses on muscles, tendons, and ligaments to improve muscles toner, release tension and increase relaxation. Massage enhances blood flow circulation and can assist the lymphatic system. By doing this, it can help remove toxins from the body and increase overall well-being. Massage can be a great stress reliever and is beneficial when relaxing tight muscles that cause pain.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture allows your body’s own natural healing properties to relieve pain, increase joint mobility and promote regeneration. By inserting the thin acupuncture needles into the areas of interest, they create micro tears in the muscles and surrounding tissues. These micro tear kick start the body’s healing mechanism diverting blood flow, nutrients and regeneration properties to the area promoting the growth or healthier tissue.

Therapeutic Laser

Low level laser therapy uses light to help restore the body’s normal function while enhancing the natural healing processes. The tissues targeted absorbs energy from the light and this helps to increase the rate of tissue healing. Our physiotherapists use this modality frequently.

Decompression Therapy

Spinal decompression is a safe and non surgical way for slowly and gently decompressing the space between the discs in your back relieving lower back or neck pain. Using this technique, pressure is relieved from in between the discs and therefore relieved from the nerves between them.

Custom Orthotics

Custom orthotics are molded specifically to your feet to support your arches. By replacing the inserts of your regular shoes with your orthotics, they help you correct your foot and ankle alignment. When fitted and worn properly, they can relieve everything from foot to neck and back pain. They can even improve sport performance and prevent further foot problems.

Custom Joint Bracing

Braces are beneficial for individuals with joint mobility issues or injuries. Typical areas that we fit braces for are; the knee, ankle, elbow and wrist. We are also able to fit custom braces for shoulders, hips and back. A brace helps to support the joint in the correct position while you continue to receive physio treatments to promote healing.

Compression Stockings

Compression stockings are beneficial for maintaining blood circulation and reducing the risk of blood clots in your legs. Individuals with deep vein thrombosis benefit from this blood flow maintenance. Being on your legs all day or staying sedentary for long periods of time may put you at risk for developing edema (swelling) in your legs
